So...about how I haven't posted in 2 1/2 months? XD um, yeah, sorry about that. I swear I used to update this thing more often but then organic chemistry and lioncrest and real life kind of ate any incentive to post that I had.
So, hello to new people from LC *waves* Like I said, I used to update this more often and I'll try and work on that next semester XD
And now it's time for the 'what the hell happened in the two and a half months in which Brit was not posting' report. \o/ yay! </sarcasm> (I'm sure most people have heard bits and pieces of this except for ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) hyoutan who was in australia and genicheerios and jackalackala with whom I do not speak anywhere near often enough T.T)
Classes went okay - Japanese teacher turned out fine, Bio was alright, Calligraphy turned into life drawing halfway through which was strange, but I managed to throw together something resembling a final project that my teacher liked and now it's over. whew. Orgo was a general cycle of reading, practicing, reviewing and then walking out of the tests/quizzes realizing I knew a hell of a lot less than I thought I did >.< I could write pages of bitching about orgo but again, most people have heard it already, and when it comes down to it I don't really want to write it.
Real life was busy - drama with Scottish dance club cause we're having issues with the teacher, and losing people because of it and >.<, but Bryn Mawr hosted a dance which was a rousing success :D and I have new dresses, and am going to the New Years Ball. Oh, and my ballet slippers finally coughed and died on me (and by that I mean developed a second hole in the bottom and the beginnings of a third) so I now have Lizz's 7-year-old competition gillies which are still in decent shape and somehow fit me, despite our having very differently sized feet XD.
Anime club is (to my knowledge, which given my incredible ability to not notice drama, is questionable) going well - we have a huge turnout for Katsucon (probably something to do with the fact that hotel rooms are free >.>) and we're in the process of figuring out rides and cosplay stuff which will hopefully get done on time and work o.O
So, currently, I am at faded_lace's house - originally we were going to use this time to style my mercury wig, but then there were supply issues and it didn't come in so now we're just hanging out - with a crap ton of stuff that I am taking home for winter break and it's snowing. And I slept till noon :D yay. |

So, um about how I haven't posted in a month? XD yeah, sorry.
I am alive. Insanely busy, but alive. My orgo lectures still put me to sleep, stuff with the Japanese teacher is slowly getting better, job is boring as hell but pays wonderfully, and we are finally making a tiny bit of headway on the sailor moon cosplays. :D yay.
I am desperately looking forward to fall break as it will hopefully also mean a break from the massive amounts of homework I have to do each weekend. -.- hopefully. Also faded_lace and moonlightlady14 are for some reason braving the train ride of death to come home with me over fall break, so that ought to be fun :D

In other news, I asked the mail room today if they were hiring students and they were ambivalent about me until I said I could work Saturdays. Then he seemed more eager, and told me to come back thursday. So I may (hopefully possibly pleasepleaseplease) have a job - now granted one that would require my working tuesday and thursdays before I go to japanese and possibly every saturday for the rest of the semester, but damn it it is a job and a paying one and I'm sure I could find a sub for the one time when I think I wont be here on a saturday which is katsucon. |

THERE IS A GOD
I HAVE A LUNCH ON MONDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU *insert spiritual being of choice*

For those who are now utterly confused, and explaination:
Because I am obviously insane I am trying to do an east asian studies major while fulfilling all of my pre-vet requirements AND study abroad in Japan. This means I am taking pretty much exclusively science and east asian courses. So, this year, I'm taking both intro to biology and organic chem. However, this meant, or at least I thought it meant, that I had class straight through from 8:30 in the morning until 5:30PM on mondays and 4:00 PM on wednesdays, because I thought I had lab right after class. Now, for those who know me, I do not do well without food. And since they closed the dining hall nearest to the science building I was kind of panicking that I would have no way to get lunch without like packing it in the morning or something.

Turns out I have an hour between the end of biology and the start of lab so I now have luuuuuuuuuuunch which means foooooooooooooood and no starving and/or fainting during lab. :3
In other news, my room is fantastic. I love it to pieces. If I ever figure out how to upload photos onto livejournal I will post pictures. (thats a damn big if XD) I still need to put up posters, etc, but I have everything else set up and there is prince of tennis stuff EVERYWHERE 8D
and I can climb out onto the roof.

And for once, I'm not talking about Prince of Tennis. Shocker, I know.
So at like 7 this morning, when I'm finishing my breakfast and about to head out to my early-morning work shift, I'm flipping through the paper. And I stumble on the article by our usual gay-rights columnist. The header?
"Doubles Tennis better than Therapy"
So of course I read it.
The whole thing - the whole damn thing and this is by someone who I doubt even knows what prince of tennis is - is about how the author and her girlfriend have been together 24 years, play doubles tennis, and credit it as one of the reasons their relationship works out so well. That playing doubles strengthens relationships. It ends "In thennis and life, there's simply no joy as special as having a life-long doubles partner."
I cut the article out. I am bringing it to college.

I'M BACK
AND ALIVE
AND HAD THE MOST AWESOME WEEKEND EVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR 8DDDDD
So.
Animyu panal. Apparently fruits basket is now a musical. who knew? and with an all male cast at that. o.O I kind of really need to see this.
Met up with faded_lace and there was much squeeing and hugging. finally met chiachiaamichan and yomimashou . Spent time hunting for their hotel. Went to dealers room and hunted desperately for anything and everything involving prince of tennis. Had some success. Went to see AMVs. Laughed my head off and went home with the list and didn't vote (again. I need to stop doing that XD). Went again to dealers room. Met faded_lace and company in Artists alley. Hunted madly for prince of tennis stuff (anyone seeing a theme here?). went to bed at some point.
Saturday: Cosplayed haruhi suzumiya. Met up with faded_lace and company again. Hunted artists alley and dealers room. I attempted to go to an FMA panel and it turned out kind of suckish, but I got reading time so it was okay. :D

:D we met a saeki, a fuji (another fuji), a niou and an atobe in his fabulous lavender shirt. they were wonderful. we hung out upstairs and flailed and took pictures (and got interviewed by some random japanese TV group o.O) and then went down to the dealers room and bought more prince of tennis stuff. and then watched the third death note movie (which was surprisingly awesome. L and small children. alskdjf. so cute and awkward) and then we went down to artists alley and had THE MOST AWESOME PHOTOSHOOT EVER WITH LOTS OF GAY AND CRACK PAIRINGS.

we were honestly in the back of artists alley till like 11:30 grabbing random people from our group and going "You! and you! go do something!" :DDDDD
Sunday we met up with all of them again and wandered around chatting and getting pictures taken ( me, faded_lace ,
chiachiaamichan , and yomimashou were all in ouran cosplay, and we were getting stopped like every ten minutes for pictures) and then went to the ouran gathering and had massive amounts of pictures taken and then climbed in a car and drove to faded_lace 's house where I'm staying till friday.

| General update on life, the universe and other random things |

It is may 31st, and it's a lovely 55 degrees outside. wtf, rochester. not okay.
I am also now nineteen and rather bemused by it. (we also now have copious amounts of cake in the house, which is not necessarily a good thing).
I've discovered an untold love for sundried tomatoes and cheddar cheese on toast. I don't know where it came from.
My cat is sick, has to be forced to take his antibiotics, which are not helping and he also now has no appetite. We think he may need an xray which will lead to possible surgery which is a problem because I've used up all my employee benefit money at the vets and thus convincing my dad to pay for such things is going to be a long and very very difficult battle which my mother and I may or may not win.
Between random jobs for my dad ( 9$ an hour) and lots of hours at the vets in june (7.37$ an hour) I think I will manage to not go bankrupt between travel from pinewoods and otakon and also other varying expenses from otakon. yaaaaaaaay employment.
On that note, I still dont have any idea how I'm getting from pinewoods to an amtrak station, as noone is returning my emails. I want cheap tickets damnit, and that means planning ahead. RESPOND, PEOPLE.
I am currently on episode 64 of the Prince of Tennis anime, and have made no progress with haruhi or xxxHolic (what else am I supposed to be watching? oh yeah, code geass). As my father has yet to get my bike down from the ceiling of our garage, I have not yet made it to barnes and nobles to read my way through the PoT manga. need to get on that - It takes an hour to walk to pittsford plaza and while, yes, I do in fact have that kind of free time at the moment, I'd much rather bike it.
I have also corrupted one friend here at home to not only PoT in general, but also the musicals. She has finished the manga. I have sent her roomates arc. She agrees that Dream Lives are possibly the most amazing things known to man (fangirl). We're making progress.

So, I'm mostly unpacked. Still have various piles of shit-that-I-don't-need-till-next-semester, but we haven't found anywhere to put those yet, so they're just going to stay piles of shit-that-I-don't-need-till-next-semester.
There is a lot of stuff I should be doing right now, namely calling two of my friends, a neighbor, and bath and body works to see if i got a job there, also I need to make up flyers for babysitting/petsitting, and I desperately need to organize my closet now that all the crap that I brought back from college is back in it....but instead I'm reading fanfiction and posting. XD yay, priorities.
So, because I'm trying to get all of my various writing tidbits up online, for absolutely no reason whatsoever, I present my college essay. In 11th grade, our teacher had us doing a lot of practice college essays, and this was one of them. It was left virtually unchanged when I attached it to the common app and sent it in the next year.
( so just in case any of you were wondering how I managed to get into Bryn Mawr.... )

well, I'm home.
I am not, however, unpacked. Somehow, moonlightlady14 managed to fit the entire contents of my dorm room in a...god I think it was a camery? I dont know cars at all...anyways, she managed to get all my crap into the rental car, and then (after lunch and slightly frazzled/tearful goodbyes to hyoutan ,cuheryn and faded_lace ) me and my mom headed out for the 6 hour drive back home.
An eternity of trips up and down the stairs later (not helped by my cat yowling and winding round my ankles) I had all of aforementioned crap in my room. This meant my bed was covered, and I could not get to one of my closets and a window.
I have cleared off the bed. I have a massive pile of laundry sitting by the door, a pile of I'm-going-to-deal-with-that-tomorrow-dammit and a pile of crap-I-dont-need-till-next-semester. and a pile of shit-that-is-still-in-bags.
and I can't sit on my chair.

this is actually an essay I wrote in 11th grade. it turned out more like a creative writing piece (surprise, surprise). We were reading/had just finished "The Scarlett Letter", and I forget what the essay's prompt was, but I ended up writing the scene with Pearl in the forest from the forest's point of view.

I need to stop reading 20 things fics. They give me ideas.
Case in point: today, we weren't doing anything in math class except teacher evaluations so I skipped out after I'd finished and went to the computer lab to happily waste a half hour reading random prince of tennis 20 things fics. Then, halfway through chemistry, my ryoma-muse wakes up and starts poking me (and when the hell did I get a ryoma muse? not okay.) and I spend the rest of class jotting down fic-notes before I forget them instead of paying attention to the teachers lecture on electrolytic cells.
And I just spent the last hour and a half writing the damn thing, despite the fact that I have my Japanese civ final tomorrow (and I havent even started studying, nice planning there, brit) a math quiz friday that I need to prepare for, an essay to print, and my Japanese oral final tomorrow. Oh, and I'm in the middle of laundry.
So, I only managed to get to 10 things, and with some help I may actually be able to finish this fic at some point, but that will probably be after one or more long, drawn out conversations with faded_lace and will take a while, so I'm posting as is for now.

wow. just....wow.
Everytime I get looked at odd for still being a hardcore fantasy fan, or my dad looks frusturated that I'm still so into manga and anime (I think he's still under the impression that it's just a phase) and I start thinking that I'm into fandom just because it's fun and entertaining....I run into something like this.
and go, oh, yeah. fandom is not just a bunch of screaming, flailing omg-this-series-is-so-awesome! kids, it's people who take the series and really look at it, and analyze it, and come up with something more relevent to the real world then half the stuff they throw at us in class.
well....and it's fun and entertaining. XD |
